Improvements

The Friends of Nuttall Park use the money raised from events, base bookings, running the tea room and grants, to improve the facilities in the park. These are some of the improvements that we have made . The Gardening group are also improving the park all year round through the purchase of plants e.t.c.

The Friends added 2 picnic benches, one inside the playground and one outside. Both are accessible for wheelchairs

We also commissioned a metal wildflower sign, based on the wooden sign that Kim Davis of the Gardening group has previously painted

The Gardening group also took over a new bed near the bowling green, named it the Prairie Garden, and at the end of the year, installed a rope fence

We also cleaned the roof of moss

Junior Park Run

The Friends of Nuttall Park part funded the setting up of the Junior Park Run in Nuttall Park, which started on the 11th March 2018 with 66 finishers. For more details,  follow the Facebook Page

The latest addition to the playground is a nest swing which was partly funded by a grant from The Pitch from Bury Council

2017

In 2017, we extended the playground to include a picnic area to enable families to picnic safely whilst watching their children play. We received a grant from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme

Before the extension

We also arranged for new litter bins with lids to deter the magpies and squirrels from taking litterr

Path extension

The path widening around the perimeter of the park was a joint initiative by Viiridor, Bury Council and the Friends of Nuttall Park and was completed in May 2017. The previous path was too narrow to enable 2 wheelchairs or prams to cross without going onto the grass, so the new path is a great improvement.

The Friends have a wheelchair available in the base for use by visitors

These are pictures of the path before, during and after the work

The stone was kindly donated by Marshalls

2016

In 2016 we added an accessible swing, trampoline and other equpment in the playground,  a rope fence to the Wildflower garden and repairs to the Boules court, which was built in 2015 using a donation from the Ramsbottom Buisness Group and then damaged by the Boxing Day floods
